B(2026·南京钟英中学阶段检测)
Different colours affect how we think and feel—and food colours have a big effect on how hungry we get. You might not realize it, but the colour of food often changes whether you like it. Let’s look at how common food colours work!
Red is super good at making people hungry. Red food(or even red things around food) makes your appetite(食欲) better and makes you full of energy. If you don’t want to eat, add something red to your meal. For example, a restaurant with red seats might make you feel hungrier as soon as you sit down.
Yellow also makes you want to eat more. It is the colour of happiness, so many restaurants use yellow(like yellow windows or flowers) to make you feel welcome—and hungry!
Green food feels “healthy” to most people. That’s because safe, fresh foods(such as lettuce, apples, and cucumbers) are often green. People think green foods are not dangerous, so they’re happy to eat them.
On the other hand, purple and black foods are usually avoided. We’re used to thinking that these colours mean food is spoiled or bad for us. There aren’t many natural purple or black foods(only things like cranberries or eggplants).
Blue is the least appetizing colour for food. A study found that even people’s favourite food becomes not tasty when it is blue—even if they tasted normal! So if you’re dieting, use blue lights in your fridge or blue kitchen tools. They’ll make you less likely to eat too much.

根据“Red is super good at making people hungry. Red food(or even red things around food)makes your appetite(食欲)better and makes you full of energy.”以及“Yellow also makes you want to eat more.”
根据“On the other hand, purple and black foods are usually avoided. We're used to thinking that these colours mean food is spoiled or bad for us.”
(Definition/Explanation Clue)
标志词:that is (to say), in other words, which means, or 等
(Contrast/Comparison Clue)
通过反义、对比关系推测词义,注意以下信号词:but, however, although, while, on the contrary, unlike, instead of
(Cause and Effect Clue)
根据前因后果逻辑推断词义,关注because,so,as a result,therefore,lead to,due to等词。
(Example Clue)
生词后常跟具体例子,用such as,for example,like,including等引出
根据“A study found that even people's favourite food becomes not tasty when it is blue-even if they tasted normal! So if you're dieting, use blue lights in your fridge or blue kitchen tools. They'll make you less likely to eat too much.”
