We will have a writing competition next month. Most of us think we can write a story. Here's your chance to show that you can!
Your story should be no longer than 800 words, and it can be as short as 500. So, what sort of story should you write? You may want to write about your own town or city, but we are asking for stories set in the countryside. We want to give everyone more chances to use the imagination(想象). You can choose the season yourself—you might like winter because it's snowy and cold, or spring because it's windy and sunny. The judges are well-known writers themselves: Jack Harris wrote an award-winning novel, The Lion, Carol Simmons works for the magazine Creative Writing, and Andy Williams is a famous short story writer. You can email your stories directly to us at shortstory@sunshineradio.com. The closing date is February 29. Any stories we receive after this date will not be judged.
The winning story will be put onto our website for everyone to read. There are several prizes including books and CDs. The first prize winner will be given a notebook computer. That might encourage(鼓励) everyone to try and write a good story!
