B
One Friday morning in September, our teacher, Mrs Ferrara, told us that a new student would join our class. “Her name is Luz,” said Mrs Ferrara. “She is from the Lakeland School. She is interested in Maths and Music.”
Luz walked into our classroom on Monday morning. She was using a folding cane(折叠杖). I thought she used it to make sure her feet would not knock into things. Mrs Ferrara gave her a seat in the front of the classroom. Her desk was far from the window. Maybe the bright light near the window would make trouble for her.
Some of the children wanted to help Luz get in line for lunch. She refused quietly, “Thanks, but I don’t need help.” Jose tried to help her walk downstairs for lunch, but again she said, “Thank you, but I don’t need help.”
I introduced myself at lunch. “Hi, Luz. I am Sasha, and I came here from Russia last year.” She replied softly, “Hi, Sasha. I was born in California, but my parents were born in Mexico.”
Luz seemed to keep away from us. I thought she looked a little sad. One day, I asked her,“Why are you sad, Luz?” She looked at me and didn’t say anything for a moment. Then she said, “I miss my friends in my old school. They know what I can do. They know when I need help and when I don’t.”
In October, things began to change. It was time for the chorus(合唱团) to begin practising. Luz and I both joined. Luz had a great voice! When clubs were announced, Luz chose the Maths Club. She was a whizz at Maths! Soon Luz began to help others in the class who had difficulty with Maths. Luz looked happier. She talked more.
Luz became very special to me later. We talked and shared our secrets during break time. Sometimes on weekends, our families went out together. We became good friends. I could tell Luz anything. She could keep secrets. She was a nice friend.

答案:4.C 【点拨】根据“She was using a folding cane(折叠杖). I thought she used it to make sure her feet would not knock into things.”
5.D 【点拨】根据“I miss my friends in my old school. They know what I can do. They know when I need help and when I don't.”
选项A“她来自Lakeland学校”只是转学的背景信息,不属于特殊特征;
选项B“她对数学和音乐感兴趣”是老师介绍的普通兴趣信息,不是她独有的特殊点;
选项D“她和父母出生在不同国家”只是出生地相关的普通信息,不符合“特殊”的要求;
5. 定位原文第五段Luz的表述“I miss my friends in my old school. They know what I can do. They know when I need help and when I don’t.”,可知旧朋友熟悉她的能力,清楚什么时候需要帮忙、什么时候不需要,而新同学还不了解她,不知道合适的帮忙时机,所以她一开始拒绝帮助。
6. 划线词“whizz”的后文提到“Soon Luz began to help others in the class who had difficulty with Maths.”,说明Luz的数学能力非常突出,能够辅导数学不好的同学,因此这个单词的中文含义是“高手”,对应选项B。
4.C 5.D 6.B
