Ⅴ. 跨学科融合 阅读理解
There are many delicious fruits in autumn. Many people like fruits because they are sweet. Do you know why fruits are sweet?
The answer is very easy. Fruits are sweet because trees are smart. For some trees, the key to survival(生存) is having sweet fruits. In this way, they get animals to help spread their seeds. For example, bears like apples' sweet taste. They eat apples and carry the seeds in their stomachs. The bears don't stay in the same place all the time. They walk around instead. They stop in a new place. The seeds come out of the bears' bodies in the new place and fall onto the ground. Some time later, the seeds might grow into new trees.
Moving the seeds to a different place is really important and it is a new tree's start. In this way, it doesn't have to compete with its parent trees for water or sunlight.
However, not all fruits are sweet. Some are sour, such as lemons. Maybe you don't like lemons, but there are some insects and animals enjoying them. They help lemon trees spread seeds.
How clever the trees are! They can start the new lives without too much trouble.
