A Special Goodbye
In the Tang Dynasty(唐朝)，there is a poet named Wang Wei.
He is good at writing poems.
One day, Wang Wei wants to visit a friend. He gets on a small boat and says goodbye to his friend, Pei Di. Pei Di lives near Wang Wei. He often invites Wang Wei to his home. They drink tea and talk about poems together. They have a deep friendship. They are good neighbours too.
Now Wang Wei feels sad to leave. Suddenly, he hears a beautiful song from the shore(岸). Pei Di is playing the flute(笛子) to say goodbye! Wang Wei smiles.
After that, he always misses Pei Di. One day, he takes out paper and writes a famous poem right away. The poem says, “Thinking of you now, just as I did before; I wonder, is my longing deeper(强烈的渴望) than before?”
