五、阅读理解
Do you know Grandpa “Nice”? Some of you may say “yes”. Michael Rosen is famous(著名的)all over the world for his “Nice” meme(表情包). But in fact, the man is a writer. He wrote more than 200 books for children. He also teaches at the University(大学)of London.
Rosen was born on May 7, 1946 in England. He was interested in reading and writing at a young age. He learnt about acting(表演)at school. In 1969, he finished his first play(戏剧), Backbone. It was on at the Royal Court Theatre in London. 28 years later, he wrote his most famous book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. He also wrote Sad Book. In this book, we learn that he was sad after his son Eddie died(死)at the age of 18.
In June, 2023, Rosen got the PEN Pinter Prize(奖). Amber, one of the most famous writers in England, says Rosen has great power(力量). “He can write about unlucky things in life in a funny way. He is a role model(楷模)not just for children but for adults(成年人)too,” she says. Rosen is happy to get the prize, but he says he is happier when he is writing. “Writing is like a lovely room. You can make many different people and things there,” he says.
Rosen thinks of the sad things in his life as “corners(角落)”. There is an English saying, “I have turned a corner.” It means we meet a challenge(挑战), but we get over(克服)it by working hard. In real life, there is always a corner. The important thing is that we should never give up(放弃).
