Once upon a time in ancient China, there was a brave man called Hou Yi. He shot down nine extra suns that were burning the earth, and saved the people. As a prize, he got a magic medicine that could make people live forever from the Queen Mother of the West.
Hou Yi's wife, Chang'e, was interested in the medicine. One day, when Hou Yi was away, Chang'e couldn't stop herself and drank it. Right away, she found herself getting lighter and floating up. She tried to shout for help, but it was too late. Chang'e flew all the way to the moon and had to stay there by herself.
From then on, on a full moon night, people would look up at the moon, thinking about Chang'e living there alone. Her story has been told from one generation to another, making people dream about the secret moon.
