Paper-cuttings are one of the most popular decorative Chinese arts.
History — The history of paper-cuttings can go back to the 6th century. From the 7th to 13th century, paper-cuttings became popular, especially during Chinese festivals. The art spread to the rest of the world in the 14th century.
Uses — There are three types of paper-cuttings today. They are paper-cuttings for decoration, for religious (宗教的) purposes and for design patterns (图案).
Reasons for its popularity — Paper-cuttings are popular because of their expression of wishes and hopes. Wishes for wealth, health and longevity (长寿) are shown through paper-cuttings. For example, during the Chinese New Year, the word “Fu” is put upside down on the door to express people’s wish for the coming of happiness. At a birthday party of an old person, paper-cuttings with the word “Shou” are often seen.

Which group of people are ordering food online most? A recent report that was published by the China Hospitality Association and Meituan, a food delivery service, showed that 86.3% of the service’s users are between 18 and 34 years old.
