B
He was a journalist (记者) and a political critic (政治评论家). But to most people, he was one of the most famous martial arts novelist (武侠小说家) in the Chinese-speaking world.
Louis Cha Leung-yung, better known by his pen name Jin Yong, passed away at 94 years old on 30 October 2018 in Hong Kong. Jin Yong was not the first person to write about the martial arts world known as jianghu, but he wrote some of its best stories. His works are not only a joy for people to read, but also help to shape Chinese people's spirits and values in recent decades.
Jin Yong once said, "Wuxia (martial arts) is not so much about wu (kung fu), but mainly about xia, a combination (结合) of courage, justice (公平) and self-sacrifice (自我牺牲)." These values have been passed on to Chinese of all ages through his books. Jin Yong's books are not only about heroes who fight for justice and righteousness (正义). They also show people the beauty of almost every aspect of Chinese culture.
"You can't think too highly of Jin Yong's cultural influence. He turned novels into an encyclopedia (百科全书) of Chinese history, medicine, geography, mathematics ..." Professor Petrus Liu of Boston University said.
Jin Yong once said that he hoped people would still read his books even 100 or 200 years after his death. It is probably safe to say that as long as the noble qualities mentioned in his stories never die out, neither will his great works themselves.

解析:
31. 根据文章第一段“He was a journalist (记者) and a political critic (政治评论家). But to most people, he was one of the most famous martial arts novelist (武侠小说家).”可知,金庸生前同时拥有记者、政治评论家和武侠小说家这三个身份,故选D。
32. 根据文章第三段金庸的表述“Wuxia (martial arts) is not so much about wu (kung fu), but mainly about xia, a combination (结合) of courage, justice (公平) and self-sacrifice (自我牺牲).”可知,“武”指代功夫,“侠”是勇气、公平、自我牺牲等人文精神的结合,A选项符合该内容;B选项与原文“mainly about xia”相悖;C选项的“only(只能)”、D选项的“only be understood by old people(只有老人能理解)”表述绝对且不符合原文,故选A。
33. 前文提到武侠精神包含“courage, justice (公平) and self-sacrifice (自我牺牲)”,这些都是美好且受人敬佩的品质,因此“noble”在此处意为“good and admired(美好且令人敬佩的)”,故选B。
34. 根据文章第三段“They also show people the beauty of almost every aspect of Chinese culture.”以及第四段的评价“He turned novels into an encyclopedia (百科全书) of Chinese history, medicine, geography, mathematics ...”可知,读者能从金庸的作品中了解大量中国文化,C选项正确;A选项与原文“Jin Yong was not the first person to write about the martial arts world known as jianghu”不符;B选项与原文“His works are not only a joy for people to read, but also help to shape Chinese people's spirits and values”不符;D选项与最后一段“as long as the noble qualities mentioned in his stories never die out, neither will his great works themselves”不符,故选C。
