A pleasant surprise by Ann
My father is a teacher. He teaches English at a primary school. He works very hard.
My father's birthday is on the fifth of July. My mother and I want to give him a surprise.
It is six o'clock in the evening. It is time for my father to come home. My mother and I turn off the lights and hide in the kitchen. When my father comes in, I turn on the lights. My mother puts a birthday cake on the table. We say "Happy Birthday!" to him. My father is very happy but surprised. "Thank you very much. Is today my birthday?" My mother looks at the calendar. "Oh, dear! It's the fifth of June. I made a mistake." My father laughs and says, "Thank you for your mistake. I can eat two birthday cakes this year."
