There is a wood outside the village and
some open fields. Dan and Sue walk through the
wood and into one of the fields. The dogs run
around the field and play with each other.
Dan throws a ball and the two dogs run
after it. Charlie gets there first and brings the
ball back. Dylan runs after Charlie and barks at
him. Dan and Sue laugh.
" Are you enjoying life in Steeple
Compton?" asks Dan.
Sue stops laughing. "It's all right," she
says. But she doesn't smile when she says this.
Dan starts to say something else but there
is a noise. It's Sue's phone. It's a text message.
She takes out her phone and reads the
message. Then she starts to cry.
"Sue, what is it?" asks Dan.
Sue gives Dan her phone and sits down
under a tree with her head in her hands. She's
still crying. Charlie runs across to Sue and sits
in front of her with his head to one side. He can
see she's unhappy. Dylan runs across too. He
lies down next to Sue and puts his head on her
leg.
Dan takes the phone and reads the
message. "Sue," says Dan. He sits next to her.
He puts his arm round her to comfort her.
"This isn't the first message like this."
"No," says Sue. "It isn't."
"What's Nemesis?" asks Dan.
"It's a name," says Sue. "Someone is
sending me letters and messages and he or she
uses the name Nemesis." "It's a Greek name,"
says Sue. "It's the name of an old Greek god.
Well, goddess(女神) actually."
"What kind of goddess?" asks Dan.
"She punishes bad people," replies Sue.
"But you're not a bad person," says Dan.
"I know," says Sue.

Dan takes the phone and reads the message... He sits next to her. He puts his arm around her to comfort her."
Dan and Sue walk through the wood and into one of the fields."、第二段中的"Dan throws a ball and the two dogs run after it."、第六段"She takes out her phone and reads the message. Then she starts to cry." 故选A。
It's the name of an old Greek god. Well, goddess(女神) actually."
