A
There was a friendly neighbourhood, and every house had a beautiful garden. Among them lived a young boy. He loved nothing more than staying at home with his family. One day, while playing in his yard, he found that his elderly neighbour's garden was overgrown and in need of some care.
The young boy picked up his gardening tools at once and headed next door. He spent the whole afternoon weeding and watering the garden with love and care. When he finished, he felt really happy about the change.
The next morning, he woke up to find a basket of fresh fruit and vegetables on their doorstep. It was a way of thanking him for his hard work. From that day on, the young boy learned that it was good to help others and do something for the community. The simple act brought everyone in the neighbourhood closer together.

理解
1. How did the elderly neighbour thank the boy for his hard work?

2. Have you ever helped your neighbour? Share it with us.

B
Many years ago, I bought a house in Sunshine Town, and we still go there every summer. The first time we stayed there, our neighbour Mary came and brought us a box with some tomatoes and a bottle of wine in it. It was nice of her to do it. But when we looked at the tomatoes, we were worried because they looked terrible: not at all like the nice, round, shiny things you get in a supermarket. And the wine was cloudy (浑浊的), in a funny old bottle with no label on it. These couldn't be any good, we thought. But we were thankful for her kindness, so we tried them.
What a wonderful taste! Those tomatoes made me think of the ones my uncle grew when I was a child. Nowadays supermarket tomatoes look perfect but they have a taste of water. Nobody's going to have a happy memory of those. Mary's wine may be cloudy and come out of an old bottle, but it was yummy.
It's good to eat things at the correct time, when they're in season, and as close as possible to where they were grown. What Mary gave us was the taste of Sunshine Town.
