D Read the story about how a food delivery driver helped an elderly man. Put the events in the correct order and write the numbers (1–5) in brackets.
Late delivery, timely help
Zhang Wei raced through the city on his e-bike. He was moving as fast as possible to complete his next delivery. As a food delivery driver, he always took pride in delivering his orders to customers on time. But this afternoon, while he was on his way, he noticed an elderly man lying by the roadside. The man looked very ill. His face was white, and sweat was running down his face. His hands were shaking slightly, and he was breathing heavily.
Zhang Wei stopped and hurried over. “Excuse me, sir? Are you all right?”
“I’m not sure,” the elderly man answered. He was breathing hard and holding his chest. “I don’t feel well.” His voice was weak, and he seemed to be in great pain.
Zhang Wei grew more and more worried. He knew the man needed to get to the hospital quickly, and there was no time to wait for a taxi. Zhang Wei carefully helped the man onto his e-bike and rushed him to the hospital himself.
After the man was safely in hospital, Zhang Wei returned to work. His delivery was already late, so he called his customer to say sorry, explained what happened and even offered to pay for the food, but the customer refused his offer. Later, she heard about the whole story on a news app—and left Zhang Wei a tip!
Zhang Wei keeps working hard as a delivery driver. Now he always keeps an emergency medical kit on his e-bike, just in case anyone else needs help.
