Long ago，there lived a king under the sea. He had six mermaid(美人鱼)daughters，and the youngest was the Little Mermaid. She often swam up to see the outside world.
One night，the Little Mermaid swam up to the surface(水面)again. Suddenly she heard a young man calling for help. She saved him and took him to the beach. The young man was a handsome prince(王子)，so the Little Mermaid fell in love with him. Then she saw a beautiful girl walking to them. The Little Mermaid had to leave for the sea because she had no legs. When the young man opened his eyes，he saw the beautiful girl. He was thankful，and he thought that the beautiful girl saved him.
The Little Mermaid loved the prince very much and she couldn't forget him. One day，she visited a witch(女巫)and asked the witch to turn her into a girl with two legs. The witch said she would lose her voice. The Little Mermaid agreed and then she had two legs.
She went to the palace(宫殿)to see the prince. But after she walked into the palace，she saw the prince and the beautiful girl get married(结婚). When the prince saw the Little Mermaid，he didn't even remember her.
The Little Mermaid was so sad that she ran out of the palace and went back to the sea.
