Leo got a special birthday present from his scientist aunt. It was a white T-shirt. “It looks... ordinary(普通的),” he said, trying to sound polite.
His aunt smiled and said, “Just wear it outside. You’ll see something wonderful.”
The next morning, Leo wore the new T-shirt to the park. When he ran in the bright sun, something amazing happened. The white T-shirt started to change colour. Beautiful blue seas and cute tall giraffes appeared on it. The pictures became brighter and clearer after he stayed in the sun longer. All his friends got around him, pointing and asking, “How did your T-shirt do that? How amazing!” In fact, Leo didn’t know how it happened either. When he walked under a tree, the colourful pictures were slowly gone. The T-shirt turned white again. Leo was intrigued. So he asked his aunt about it.
After dinner, his aunt explained(解释) the science to him. “There is special paint with tiny colour-changing molecules(变色分子) on this T-shirt. When you’re inside, these molecules are sleeping and the T-shirt looks normal. But when you go outside, the sunlight wakes them up and makes them show beautiful colours.”
Now, this special T-shirt is Leo’s favourite thing to wear. On sunny days, he loves watching the designs come out and surprise his friends. Sometimes he even runs outside and inside to make the colours come and go. Through this fun T-shirt, Leo learned that science can even get into the clothes we wear. Fashion isn’t just about looking good. It can be fun, surprising and smart too. Who knew science could be so cool to wear?
