I met an interesting old man at a soccer game. It was on a Saturday morning when the brothers from my host family played soccer against other children.
Bronson, 13, and Troy, 12 go to the same school as me. They are in our school's soccer team. Every weekend, they play against teams from other schools.
The soccer field is near our school. The sky was blue and clear. Under the sky there were at least 100 people watching the game. Most of them were parents and friends of the players.
Bronson and Troy's team wore blue and the other team wore red. A loud whistle(口哨) blew and the game began. As I watched the game, an old man standing next to me said “hello” to me.
“Bernard(the father of my host family) was a champion(冠军),” he said.
Bernard didn't look like a strong man to me, so I was surprised to hear that he was a champion. “Oh, he was the champion of a beer-drinking competition! He who drank the most beer became the winner,” the old man said cheerfully.
Later, I found out that the old man is a teacher in my school. And he loves to tell funny jokes.
The soccer competition went on for an hour. At last the brothers lost the game. But they all had fun.
