Beijing Library in Beijing’s Tongzhou District opened to the public on December 27th, 2023. It offers people a modern and relaxing space to enjoy reading.
Beijing Library covers an area of about 75,000 square metres. The Forest Reading Hall is the world’s largest hall, with an area of about 21,800 square metres. It is certified by Guinness World Records. The library is called the “forest of knowledge” because of the shape of its roof.
There are about eight million books in the library. It provides people with a relaxing space for reading and learning about the culture of Beijing. There are over seven million books in the underground intelligent stacks(书库). Robots can take the books to the reading area within 15 minutes. With the help of robots, people can easily get the book they want without having to search for it themselves.
