Unlike students in China,Canadian high school students usually have lots of spare time,especially during weekends. So how do Canadian teenagers spend their weekends? Well,volunteering takes up most of their spare time.
In Canada,volunteering is a very common thing among people of all ages,as they believe that being helpful is one of the most important qualities to have. There are many kinds of voluntary work,like organizing books in libraries,working as teachers at school and sending food to the old. Chances to help are everywhere,including in schools,shopping malls,or even people’s gardens.
At present,I’m volunteering for a charity,which is one of the biggest non-profit (非营利的) charities in the world. My job is to help the teachers at the charity’s Chinese language school. I’m in charge of a preschool class,where students are aged from 3 to 6. When I first started,I was quite nervous as I’d never worked with little kids before.
Suddenly,a lot of questions filled my head and I got tons of butterflies in my stomach. “What if they don’t like me? What if they are afraid of me?”
Then,as time went on,I began to know the students more. One teacher asked me to help the youngest girl in the class draw a picture based on the word “grateful”. As I was drawing and talking with her,I felt warm and peaceful and suddenly realized that it was not that difficult to work with children. When the class was over,I breathed out deeply,feeling really excited and even a little bit proud of what I’d done.
Volunteering gives us a chance to change someone’s life,including our own. Volunteering is also a great way to give back to society while developing social skills and valuable experience for the days ahead. That’s also the reason why Canadian high school students have to volunteer for at least 40 hours in order to graduate. I think helping others is always good. All for one and one for all.

1. 第一题询问加拿大青少年大部分空闲时间的活动,直接定位文章首段末尾的内容即可快速匹配答案;
2. 第二题是细节正误判断题,需要逐个将选项和原文对应内容比对,排除表述错误的选项,选出符合原文的正确项;
3. 第三题询问划线部分对应的情绪,先定位划线句的上下文,前文提到作者第一次接触小孩满是疑问,结合常用英语习语的含义就能判断情绪;
So how do Canadian teenagers spend their weekends? Well,volunteering takes up most of their spare time.",明确说明志愿活动占据了他们大部分空闲时间,对应选项B。
选项A和第二段第一句"In Canada,volunteering is a very common thing among people of all ages"表述相反,错误;
选项B和第三段"My job is to help the teachers at the charity’s Chinese language school"不符,作者是协助老师并非独立授课,错误;
选项C对应第二段"Chances to help are everywhere,including in schools,shopping malls,or even people’s gardens",说明只要愿意尝试就有很多志愿机会,表述正确;
