After he left the workshop, Clara found a note beside the vases. Clara read it and smiled. As she turned, she bumped into the vases. They fell to the ground and broke into many pieces. Only the round bases(底座) were not broken.
Clara picked up one of the round bases. “How will I tell my father?” She held the pieces, crying. Suddenly, she saw Mr Lombardi’s note when she looked through the base. The letters were big! She picked up the other base and looked through it. It worked too! The words looked bigger.
Clara thought quickly. She found a wire(金属丝) and carefully wrapped(用……缠绕) it around the two bases. Just as she finished, Mr Lombardi and Antonio walked in.
“Now let me show you the...” Antonio stopped and looked at the broken vases on the floor. “Oh, Clara!”
