One night, Laura and her family were sleeping in their home. Their dog Scruffy was asleep next to Laura. It was 4:36 a.m. and it was quiet. There were no cars passing in the street and no noise could be heard. It was like everything was still. Laura always put a cup of water on the bedside table, so that if she got thirsty during the night, she didn't have to walk all the way to the kitchen.
Suddenly, the furniture started shaking, and the cup of water fell to the floor. Scruffy started barking and it woke up Laura. She looked around and saw that everything was shaking. She screamed. Soon after, her father came in. He took her outside, and Laura's mother and brother were already there. Laura and her brother were crying. They didn't understand what was happening. It was an earthquake.
Luckily, Laura's mother had prepared an emergency box. She also took blankets to keep her children warm. Laura saw her dad take a flashlight from the box. He used the flashlight to see which parts of the house were damaged. Since the house was not safe, they stayed in a tent, provided by their neighbourhood, in the open space that night.
The next day, the children didn't go to school due to the earthquake, so they spent the day with their parents. Laura was so proud of her parents, because they knew what to do during this disaster. Thinking of this, Laura went up to her mother and father and hugged them tightly.

2. 细节理解题:根据第二段“Suddenly, the furniture started shaking, and the cup of water fell to the floor... It was an earthquake.”

It is quite important for us to learn to protect ourselves during the heavy snow.
Here are some suggestions.

答案:One possible version:
It is quite important for us to learn to protect ourselves during the heavy snow. Here are some suggestions.
First, we should stay away from snow-covered trees and billboards. They can fall and hurt people, causing serious harm. Second, wearing snow boots is a wise choice. You can avoid falling down with them. Third, we'd better not go out unless it's necessary. If we have to go out, we must be careful and pay attention to the ground. In some areas, there may be hidden holes under the snow. Fourth, we should stay away from cars and buses on the road. On snowy days, it's harder for them to stop in time.
