C
Research shows that millions of adults have very poor mathematical(有关数学的)skills. This causes them to be unable to carry out many of the basic numerical(数字的)tasks in everyday life that many of us do naturally. These tasks include understanding travel timetables and household bills and even checking our change in shops. And poor numerical skills not only cause personal disadvantages, but can also cause a number of other social and personal illnesses.
While adults' ability to read and write has been improving, adults' mathematical skills have at the same time been getting worse. The fact of the matter is that many people who are good at reading and writing simply don't like maths and don't see the importance of it. What's more, maths isn't cool. It's OK to say “I'm not good at maths”,but it's not OK to say “I can't read”. To many people, maths is simply a boring school subject for which there is no need to make much of an effort because they won't need it once they leave school.
Unluckily, the problem seems to be passed down to the children. Parents who tell their children they were not good at maths at school are likely to find the same attitude(态度)among their own children. And they will be unable to help their children with their maths homework. Even today, with interesting and new practical(实用的)methods, maths is still one of those subjects that many kids hate.
Perhaps it's the way it's taught in schools,or the way teachers are trained to teach it. There is surely a need to present maths as a way of solving practical problems and working with others in an interesting way. It's necessary to make people see the practical uses of maths in everyday life, instead of treating it as a waste of time and something one has to do until the end of school.

文章开头提到“Research shows that millions of adults have very poor mathematical skills.”,这是通过展示研究结果来引入话题,因此选项D“通过展示研究结果”是正确的。
文章中提到“To many people, maths is simply a boring school subject for which there is no need to make much of an effort because they won't need it once they leave school.”,这说明很多人认为数学无用,因此选项A“因为他们认为数学无用”是正确的。
文章中提到“There is surely a need to present maths as a way of solving practical problems and working with others in an interesting way.”,这说明作者认为有必要改变数学的教学方式,使其更具实用性和趣味性,因此作者的态度是支持的,选项B“支持的”是正确的。
7. D
8. A
9. D(根据题目给出的答案,尽管A也是一个合理的选项,但D更全面地反映了段落的内容)
10. B

A. 担忧的。
B. 支持的。
C. 粗心的。
D. 怀疑的。
