四、阅读理解
In the city of Zhengzhou, there is a hotpot restaurant called Shengyousheng that is doing something very special. It gives jobs to people who are hearing-impaired—that means they cannot hear well or at all.
The restaurant's name includes the words "more" and "sound", which shows its hope to bring more voices into the world. The owner, Mr Wang, once met several hearing-impaired people who couldn't find jobs, and he was deeply moved. He wanted to create a place where they could work with dignity and show their abilities. About half of the workers there have trouble hearing, including 31-year-old Deng Wei, who works as the kitchen manager. He and his colleagues (同事) communicate with sign language. A simple gesture (手势) or a look is enough to understand each other. "Here, no one looks down on us. We feel like a big family," he smiles.
Shengyousheng is a self-service hotpot restaurant that focuses on its food quality. All ingredients(原料)are carefully chosen. There are over 40 kinds of food choices, from fresh seafood and handmade dumplings to seasonal greens, satisfying different tastes.
Customers(顾客)choose their own food and make their own sauces(调味汁),so there's not much need to talk. To help with communication, the restaurant uses big posters on the walls. These posters show simple hand signs, like how to say "thank you" by placing one hand near your chin(下巴)and moving it forward. There are also signs for "hello" "wait a moment" "need more soup" and "check out". Each table also has cards that customers can use to write messages to the workers if needed. Many customers say these designs are very thoughtful, and some even learn simple sign language to greet the workers.
Shengyousheng is not only helping people with hearing loss find jobs, but also showing everyone that kindness, patience, and respect are just as important as words. It's a restaurant full of good food and big hearts.
