七、阅读表达。(2025·江苏南通启东长江中学调研)
阅读短文,回答下列问题。
Americans love their dogs and look after them well. They take their dogs for walks, let them play outside and give them good food and medical care. So there are many expressions(表达) about the dog in English.
Some people say we live in a "dog-eat-dog" world. That means in order to be successful, people have to work hard and complete(竞争) against each other fiercely(猛烈地). Such hard work can make people "dog-tired". And the situation will be even worse if they become "as sick as a dog".
Nowadays people still say, "Every dog has its day." This means that every person enjoys some successful days during his or her life. We can describe someone who is unkind as a "junkyard dog".
Husbands and wives use this expression "in the doghouse" when they are angry. For example, a woman might get angry with her husband for coming home late. She might tell him that he is "in the doghouse" now.
People also use dog expressions to describe the weather. "The dog days of summer" are the hottest days of the year. A rainstorm may make the weather cool. But we do not want too much heavy rain. We do not want it rains "cats and dogs".
注:每题答案不超过5个词。

3. Why might a woman say her husband is "in the doghouse"?
