B
Dear May,
How are you these days?
Today my family went to Quanjude Restaurant in Beijing. It is one of the oldest restaurants in Beijing. It was built in 1864. I was very excited. The restaurant is famous for roast duck(烤鸭). You can even buy a Beijing duck cap as a gift for your friend!
I could smell the duck when we went into the restaurant and I felt very hungry. This restaurant’s cooks only use the best and fattest ducks. The duck is often served with sweet bean sauce(甜面酱)and leeks(葱)from Shandong Province.
Eating Beijing duck can be interesting! First, you should use your chopsticks to take a pancake and then put a little sweet bean sauce on the pancake. Next, you need to add some duck meat to your pancake. Don’t take too much because everyone is sharing! Then you need some leeks. These can be difficult to pick up because they are very thin.
Just put a few on the duck. At last, you need to roll the pancake up so it is easy to eat. I think you can either use your chopsticks or use your hands.
Then start again and keep eating until you are full, but leave room for duck soup as well!
I will take you to Quanjude Restaurant when you come to Beijing next month.
Yours,
Liu Tao
